Multiscale simulation of transport in an open quantum system: Resonances and WKB interpolation
نویسندگان
چکیده
A numerical scheme for the one dimensional stationary Schrödinger-Poisson model is described. The scheme is used to simulate a Resonant Tunneling Diode and provides an important reduction of the simulation time. The improvement is twofold. First the grid spacing in the position variable is made coarser by using oscillating interpolation functions derived from the WKB asymptotics. Then the discretization of the energy variable, which is a parameter for the Schrödinger equation, is improved by approaching the wavefunctions in the double barrier region by its projection on the resonant states (following the work of Presilla-Sjöstrand and Jona-Lasinio, [On Schrödinger equations with concentrated nonlinearities, Ann. Phys. 240, 1–21 (1995)]).

An accelerated algorithm for 2D simulations of the quantum ballistic transport in nanoscale MOSFETs
An accelerated algorithm for the resolution of the coupled Schrödinger/Poisson system, with open boundary conditions, is presented. This method improves the subband decomposition method (SDM) introduced in [N. Ben Abdallah, E. Polizzi, Subband decomposition approach for the simulation of quantum electron transport in nanostructures, J. Comp. Phys. 202 (2005), no. 1, 150–180]. The principal feat...
متن کاملAnalysis, Modeling and Simulation of Multiscale Problems Semiclassical resonances for two-level Schrödinger operator with a conical intersection
We study the resonant set of a two-level Schrödinger operator with a linear conical intersection. This model operator can be decomposed into a direct sum of first order systems on the real halfline. For these ordinary differential systems we locally construct exact WKB solutions, which are connected to global solutions, amongst which are resonant states. The main results are a generalized Bohr-...
متن کاملConductance in quantum wires by three quantum dots arrays
A noninteracting quantum-dot arrays side coupled to a quantum wire is studied. Transport through the quantum wire is investigated by using a noninteracting Anderson tunneling Hamiltonian. The conductance at zero temperature develops an oscillating band with resonances and antiresonances due to constructive and destructive interference in the ballistic channel, respectively. Moreover, we have fo...

متن کاملTheoretical computation of the quantum transport of zigzag mono-layer Graphenes with various z-direction widths
The quantum transport computations have been carried on four different width of zigzag graphene using a nonequilibrium Green’s function method combined with density functional theory. The computed properties are included transmittance spectrum, electrical current and quantum conductance at the 0.3V as bias voltage. The considered systems were composed from one-layer graphene sheets differing w...
